Press release – Indonesia Drilling Technology Initiative

04 oktober 2017

On September 23rd. 2017 Mr. Dharmizon Piliang from PT IBP Energi Indonesia, Mr. Theo van der Kolk from Petromat Holland B.V. and Mr. Uwe Koehler from BlueLine Consulting GmbH, Germany signed an agreement to establish and promote an initiative to enhance the deployment of advanced drilling technologies in Indonesia.

Indonesia is ambitiously planning to secure $200 billion in new oil & gas investment as local production declines and domestic demand grows. As part of the plan, the Goverment will allow foreign energy companies to bid for oil and gas blocks, all untapped, sweetening the deal with incentives such as tax-free imports of equipment and technology. Indonesia has been suffering from the depletion of domestic reserves and falling production of oil and gas and hence is a promising market for advanced drilling technology for Oil & Gas along with Geothermal Projects.

The Initiative

To enable local Indonesian drilling companies to execute the anticipated expansion in drilling activities the Initiative will ensure the promotion of advanced drilling and other oilfield service technology. This will lead to increased drilling efficiency, higher equipment availability and increased HSE performance. As a key aspect of this Initiative the Parties have agreed to develop a Strategic Road Map, a Work Plan and Commercial Services until December 31st, 2017.
